The Vrijhaven series is made up of 4 ‘zines with interviews with, and essays by, Netherlands-based and Japan-based creative practitioners. Themes that were covered included High-Low Culture?, Center-Periphery?, and Identity Formation?

Futoshi Miyagi is an artist based in Tokyo, and co-director of XYZ Collective. The conversation is about his research on the relationship between Okinawans and people in the military bases, intimacy, and his new novel.

Yuuki & Mana are two members of the new rhythm group, the 'Neo New Exciting Women Band', CHAI. We discussed music as a way of living, about changing the meaning of "being cute", friendships, and their new album WINK.

Mari Kojima is a photographer, writer, music label (etc.) based in Tokyo. The conversation is about the inflexible Japanese society, the industrialization of the arts, and the difference between "high-culture" (money), and "low-culture" (passion).

Akaar Amin is a graphic designer, and founder of the Amsterdam based football inspired brand Lack of Guidance. We discussed being story-tellers as a fashion brand, emotions, researching racism in Italian football, and the power of visual culture.
